Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.
A shame the author didn't know that RCA34633 is the part number for the REPLACEMENT CONE ASSEMBLY only and is not the woofer per se.

"RCA" stands for "ReCone Assembly", if memory serves, not Radio Corporation of America.

Did they just revise this article? I just read it today and it now states "The Model 14 uses a 12″ Altec Lansing low frequency transducer (it was never given a model number, but the cone kit is RCA34633) to reproduce the range between 35 Hz and 1.5 kHz. It is sometimes mistakenly thought to have been manufactured by RCA due to the part number of the cone kit."
It's a pretty good, honest review. As a Model 14 owner, I enjoyed parts 1 & 2 and am now waiting for them to post the final part--part 3. It had multiple links to Altec specs etc., I saved a few and added them to my collection....
